 Helpful gardening techniques for aging gardeners will be discussed by Master Gardener Volunteer Cheryl Miller. Topics include tips for maximizing space in small areas. Selecting tools which are designed for arthritic hands, weaker joints and backs. Plant selection for low maintenance gardening and planting tips. Gardening design including raised beds, container gardening and vertical gardening. Safety tips including pacing yourself, work simplification, proper lifting techniques, and preventing sun and heat stress. This presentation is beneficial for those planning their retirement and are interested in a hobby that promotes good health and staying active outdoors.
