Fighting Fake News: How to Improve Media Literacy Skills

Event Type: Adult Program
Age Group(s): Adults
Date: 1/22/2020
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 7:30 PM
Description:
We are surrounded by information: perpetual news cycles, political ads, 24/7 cable channels, and social media saturation. We are inundated with constant information so we think we’re well informed, but all content is not created equal.

Thanks to new technology, it is often difficult to distinguish truth from falsehood. This presentation will address some of the controversies of fake news and ways to develop media literacy skills to find reliable sources for news and other information.
